POETRY GUIDE
When I first started writing poetry, I wanted to write something people would repost and express their thoughts about it. But no one did. People just viewed it and said it was nice. I wrote a lot of emotional poems mostly out of what I felt within. As time went on, I realized that the only time I wrote beautiful poems was when I wasn’t thinking straight. And most times, I just made rough jottings and when I knew I was less busy, I pieced it all together and it always turned out beautiful. In one of my recent works titled “The Devil’s Advocate”, I wrote a lot of jargons while piecing the ideas together. But at the end of it all, it turned out beautiful. Eventually, I got what I wanted from people. A lot of people shared it and gave really beautiful comments. I felt so fulfilled and satisfied.
I dropped this poem on Facebook, instagram, inkitt etc. I had a lot of viewers and as time went by, I got convinced I needed to have a blog. The very one you’re visiting right now.
Turns out the more we think about what to write, the less we do. Sometimes you just have to write without thinking. That way you write something more beautiful. And you can’t always write perfect pieces. If your aim is to write something perfect, you’ll end up writing something too formal or too serious, which messes up the whole point of the poem. Therefore I advise that you write without stressing your mind especially when it comes to poems.
We can also avoid writing for money at times. The chances are that if you write for money, the whole purpose of the poem will eventually be jeopardized. At first, I liked the idea of writing for money. But I noticed that the whole message I was trying to pass across was not getting through.
So I stopped and since then. My poems have proudly become a blessing to the world.
This is my piece of advice to y’all. I’ll update later, okay?
I love y’all
By Grace.
